10 wind turbines approved in Romania
Good news from Romania: Military approval for 10 wind turbines has now been granted for our Sfanta Elena wind farm in Banat (Ru). This is an important milestone for the implementation of the project. An additional and complex approval by the military was necessary because our turbines are planned in the area of influence of a radar base. Now, in the final step, the building permit can be issued.
“We are delighted that we have been able to take an important step towards implementing our first wind farm in Romania with the approval of the new turbines and thus towards a sustainable, regional power supply,” says Markus Winter, CTO of Windkraft Simonsfeld.
The Sfanta Elena wind farm is being developed by our subsidiary Windkraft Simonsfeld RO s.r.l.. A total of 22 turbines in the 7 MW class from the manufacturer Siemens are planned. The environmental procedure was successfully completed in 2023 and the grid connection permit was issued. Our team in Romania is currently working to ensure that the remaining 12 turbines are also approved by the military.
