Authorisation for Dürnkrut IV wind farm
Good news for the energy transition: Our Dürnkrut IV wind farm has reached a decisive milestone with the successful environmental impact assessment in the first instance.
We last erected three wind turbines in Dürnkrut in 2023
Windkraft Simonsfeld AG is planning to erect seventeen wind turbines in the market towns of Dürnkrut and Jedenspeigen (district of Gänserndorf, Lower Austria) in cooperation with WEB Windenergie AG. Windkraft Simonsfeld's share of the project consists of nine Vestas V150 wind turbines, each with a rated output of 5.6 MW. The annual production capacity of these turbines is 124 million kWh of green electricity - equivalent to the electricity requirements of 31,000 households.
The project already has a long history of development: legally valid dedications for these sites have been in place since 2003. The first-instance approval is an important step towards the realisation of the project, however, due to expected objections, a second-instance review procedure and a further delay to the project are to be expected.
The protection of the bird population is particularly important to us. We have therefore planned innovative bird monitoring systems at the locations close to the marina in our project area, which prevent collisions by switching off the turbines at the same time.
