Green light for PV park in Ernstbrunn

We have cleared the final hurdle for our Ernstbrunn I PV park with the approval of the nature conservation authorities. We are constructing a PV plant with a nominal output of just under one MWp on a former landfill site in our local community of Ernstbrunn. Planned production is around 1,000 MWh per year – equivalent to the annual electricity requirements of 250 households. Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin this year. Planned commissioning: 2025/2026

Windkraft Simonsfeld's core business is and will remain wind energy, but solar energy will contribute a larger share to clean electricity production in the future. Four additional PV projects are currently awaiting approval in Lower Austria – two of them in Ernstbrunn.

‘We plan PV projects on areas such as landfills or land with low soil value, i.e. low-yield soil that does not compete with food production,’ says team leader Nicole Lotter from Windkraft Simonsfeld. This is also in line with the requirements of the province of Lower Austria. The expansion of PV on such limited open spaces – in addition to car parks and roofs – is absolutely necessary in order to achieve the climate targets for 2023 and 2040.
