Green light for Wullersdorf wind farm

After 20 (!) years, our wind farm project in Wullersdorf has reached a decisive milestone with the successful environmental impact assessment. The EIA authority has approved the project in the first instance - another important step towards the energy transition.

We are planning a wind farm with five wind turbines in the market town of Wullersdorf (Hollabrunn district, Lower Austria). The Nordex N163 turbines, each with a rated output of 6.8 MW, can produce around 69.4 million kWh of clean electricity per year - equivalent to the electricity requirements of 17,400 households. The project also has the potential to directly supply an industrial plant.

Long breath required
The Wullersdorf wind farm shows how long breath is often required in the renewable energy sector: The project was started in 2005, there was a positive public consultation and legally binding dedications for the sites in a wind power zone examined by the state. Nevertheless, it was prevented and delayed for years. We are now delighted to have received first-instance approval, although further review proceedings at second instance are to be expected due to anticipated objections.

Repowering: 3 times more electricity with the same number of turbines
More good news for the first quarter of 2025: three projects - repowerings - have been submitted for EIA: our Prinzendorf V, Kreuzsstetten V and Steinberg wind farms. In these three repowering projects, a total of 19 old turbines will be replaced by 19 new turbines, which will produce three times the amount of electricity with the same number of turbines.
