Growth powered by solar energy: Two new PV parks approved

Alongside wind power, Windkraft Simonsfeld is also consistently advancing the expansion of solar energy. Since the end of May, our new PV park in Ernstbrunn has been in operation: on a former landfill site, 1,360 photovoltaic modules generate clean solar power for around 250 households. In future, sheep will graze beneath the modules, while comprehensive biodiversity measures will further enhance the ecological value of the site.

The PV park in Ernstbrunn is only the beginning. Two further photovoltaic projects in Ernstbrunn and Wilfersdorf have recently been approved. With a combined capacity of 12.9 MWp, they will generate locally produced solar power for around 3,800 households.

Both projects will be implemented as agrivoltaic systems with extensive biodiversity measures and will be intelligently integrated with existing infrastructure. In Ernstbrunn, the grid connection of the Simonsfeld wind farm will be used. In Wilfersdorf, the final development stage will see the creation of an innovative wind-PV-storage hybrid park.

The two new PV parks are scheduled to become operational in 2027. With these projects, Windkraft Simonsfeld is taking another important step towards a more local, renewable and sustainable energy supply in the Weinviertel region.
