Half-yearly report for 2025

published

With a total electricity production of 336.8 million kWh, the Windkraft Simonsfeld Group generated consolidated revenue of €29.0 million and consolidated earnings (after taxes) of €4.4 million in the first half of 2025.

The Windkraft Simonsfeld Group's production results for the first half of 2025 were significantly below our forecasts. This was mainly due to exceptionally low wind conditions, particularly in the first quarter of the current financial year. Our 97 wind and solar energy plants produced a total of 336.8 million kWh of green electricity in the first six months. This corresponds to the annual demand of 84,200 households.

Our total production was therefore around 19% below the same period last year and 13.5% below our target. Even the additional production from our wind farm in Wilfersdorf, which we connected to the grid in autumn 2024, only improved the result marginally.

Nevertheless, Windkraft Simonsfeld generated consolidated revenue of €29.0 million and consolidated earnings (after taxes) of €4.4 million in the first half of the year. ‘The decline in earnings compared to the previous year is due to lower electricity production and lower electricity market prices,’ said Chief Financial Officer Alexander Hochauer.

Investments in renewable future projects
Windkraft Simonsfeld invested a total of €7.3 million in renewable future projects in the first half of the year: "We are consistently continuing to expand our future projects: in the first half of the year, two wind farms in Lower Austria were approved in the first instance, and in Romania we obtained the building permit for a wind farm. In July, a PV park in Ernstbrunn was approved. Further wind farms have also already been approved, and numerous others are in the approval process," said Chief Technology Officer Markus Winter.

‘Despite announcements, several laws intended to accelerate the expansion of renewable energy have unfortunately still not been passed or contain regulations that slow down rather than accelerate expansion. Forward-looking political decisions and stable framework conditions are needed here,’ said Winter.

Strong demand for citizen participation
There was considerable interest in participating in Windkraft Simonsfeld in the first six months of the year: total traded share turnover reached around €1.7 million in the first half of 2025 – 9.5% more than in the same period last year. This is primarily due to strong demand and increased share trading: a total of 3,910 shares – around 20% more than in the first half of 2024 – were purchased between January and June. There was also an increase in the number of shareholders, with our citizen participation company having 2,563 participants as of the reporting date.
