Pernegg learns about

wind power – large crowds attend public information day

How does a municipality shape its energy future? This question was the focus of an information event held in the market town of Pernegg at the beginning of November. Numerous citizens accepted the municipality's invitation to attend.

Together with representatives from Windkraft Simonsfeld, EVN Naturkraft and WEB Windenergie, interested parties were able to obtain comprehensive information on the subject of wind power. Many took the opportunity to ask questions, discuss technical background information or contribute their personal thoughts on the energy transition.

It quickly became clear that there is great interest in renewable energy: the event marked the start of an open participation process in which the municipality of Pernegg, together with its citizens, wants to work out the conditions under which wind power can be sensibly implemented in the town.

Open information and participation
The focus is on the Pernegg Wind Power Planning Workshop, which will take place from January to March 2026. A diverse group of around 20 citizens – young and old, supporters and sceptics – will discuss key issues such as site selection, design and local benefits in a series of meetings. The process will be accompanied by the GUSTA company, led by climate economist Sigrid Stagl, who will ensure a scientifically sound and fair process.

‘Wind power is not only a technical issue, but also a social one,’ emphasises Stagl. Windkraft Simonsfeld also values this approach: only when people are involved at an early stage and issues are discussed openly can trust be built – and the energy transition truly succeed together.

Mayor Andreas Nendwich summed it up at the event: ‘Wind power offers our community great opportunities – ecologically, economically and socially.’

We at Windkraft Simonsfeld are delighted that communities such as Pernegg are taking this path of open information and participation. Because the energy transition means cooperation – between communities, companies and, above all, the local people.
