Two more awards and a nomination for the expansion of the
headquarter
Windkraft Simonsfeld AG has been awarded timber construction prizes in Lower Austria and Vorarlberg for the expansion of its headquarter in Ernstbrunn (Lower Austria) and has been nominated for the prestigious Bauherrenpreis (Building Owner Award).
The Vorarlberg Timber Construction Award honours outstanding ecologically responsible and regionally anchored projects.
At the Vorarlberg Timber Construction Award, the extension of the headquarter won the ‘Prize outside the country’ in the category Commercial Buildings/Agricultural Buildings and also received the special prize ‘Wood & Clay’. Our Vorarlberg architect Juri Troy was on site for Windkraft Simonsfeld and accepted the awards. From the jury's statement: "The new building structure of the company headquarter harmoniously complements the existing building and encloses a shared atrium. The timber construction is compact in volume and clearly expresses a sustainable building method. At its heart is a solid rammed earth core. This is not only a functional access element, but also a thermally activated storage mass for a pleasant indoor climate and therefore an active contribution to climate protection."
Lower Austria Timber Construction Award honours projects that boldly create something new, appealing and sustainable
At the 20th Lower Austria Timber Construction Award, the extension to our company headquarter won the race in the ‘Conversion and Extension/Renovation’ category. The Timber Construction Award showcases projects that demonstrate the versatility of timber and encourage people to engage more with timber as a natural building material in the future. The jury describes this type of construction as ‘sustainability in action’ – which is exactly what we wanted to achieve with our new building.
Nomination for the Austrian Building Owner Award 2025
The Building Owner Award is presented to buildings, open space designs or urban planning solutions that are exemplary in terms of architecture and innovation and make a positive contribution to improving our living environment. The award honours projects in which the clients have worked closely with the architects to enable and create exceptional and unique solutions. This sounds very much like our new building – we have already made it into the top 24 out of 112 submitted projects, and we will find out whether we have won the prestigious award at the ceremony on 28 November 2025.
