Windkraft Simonsfeld wins Lower Austrian Timber Construction Award

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the awards for the best timber construction projects in Lower Austria. A jury of experts selected winners in four categories from among 85 entries. The Windkraft Simonsfeld company headquarters received the timber construction award in the ‘Conversion and Extension/Renovation’ category. The award ceremony took place at Blaha Büromöbel in Korneuburg and highlighted the high status that wood now enjoys as a sustainable building material in architecture.

According to the jury, the extension to our company headquarters combines functionality, aesthetics and sustainability in an exemplary manner and demonstrates how efficiently and resource-sparingly wood and clay can be used in modern commercial construction. The award for Windkraft Simonsfeld is therefore more than just a recognition of architectural quality. It also stands for the innovative strength of an entire industry that combines climate protection, sustainable construction and quality of life. The Timber Construction Award highlights the fact that timber has long been established as the building material of the future – and Windkraft Simonsfeld is actively helping to shape this future with its new company headquarters.

‘We are delighted to receive this award. I believe that with the expansion of our headquarters, we have realised a reference project for a forward-looking office building that is uncompromisingly sustainable and sets new standards,’ said Alexander Hochauer, Chief Financial Officer of Windkraft Simonsfeld.

‘Wood is a versatile raw material that is becoming increasingly important in construction. The winning projects impressively demonstrate the quality of living space that can be created with it,’ emphasised Provincial Councillor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister. WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker highlighted the innovative power: ‘Wood is not just a material, it is a symbol of the connection between tradition and innovation, between craftsmanship and nature.’
